ALDA: a new book on citizen participation at the local level in Europe and European Neighbourhood has been published
The Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) has published a new book entitled "Citizens' participation at the local level in Europe and Neighbouring Countries".
The publication, edit by the Secretary General of the Association Antonella Valmorbida, analyzes 15 years of ALDA and contributes to a better understanding of the added value of citizen participation at the local level in Europe and in the European Neighbourhood.
Through the presentation of their experiences in the field, the Association shows how and why public participation leads to the adoption of optimal solutions and, at the same time, promotes a balanced and sustainable development.
The issue expresses finally conclusions and provides input to the development of future activities in order to build a real local democracy, being useful for those who work within the program "Europe for Citizens" 2014-2020; it is also important in order to connect the themes of active citizenship and development focus of the European Year in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
ALDA is an organization dedicated to the promotion of good governance and citizen participation at the local level. It consists of over 160 members including local authorities and civil society organizations in the enlarged Europe.
